... We headed out at 2:00am amidst the quiet of the middle of the night. We reached the trailhead hours before sunrise and began our 1100m climb, with only our headlamps lighting the way. As we crept up the mountainside our voices belted out our favourite pop songs to keep the bears at bay. We finally summited the south peak of Opal Ridge just as the sun was rising at 6:00am. Cracking a can of our favourite BORN Brewing Co. beer after several hours of adrenaline inducing hiking, and a summit that felt straight up, was a once in a lifetime experience....
